I had an amazing time at the Palisade today with Jess & Gene - in uploading their files, I just had to pull this one out for instant upload. The afternoon was beautiful - I just bumped the contrast on this - the rest was the day and this couple’s awesomeness.

Last Saturday evening, the Sorrento Hotel was a beautiful setting for Amy & Derek’s equally beautiful wedding. I met Amy, her sister Katie and Amy’s sweet daughter Haley in their room late in the afternoon. Hair and makeup was done before they got to the hotel, so there was time for a fun champagne toast before the ladies got dressed. I was blessed with the awesome assistance of Jen Wade who went down to focus on details while I hung out with the ladies. Amy’s dress was so beautiful and I loved the other dresses she chose for Katie and Haley - very classy. Derek and Amy didn’t see each other until Amy walked down the aisle, but he was so sweet to send Amy an ‘I love you’ text while she was getting ready. After taking some individual family portraits, the ceremony began. Annemarie, their officiant, was so GREAT - she was so relaxed and warm. Amy and Derek presented Haley with a beautiful necklace which was really touching (not a dry eye in the house during that one!) After the ceremony, the new family and I headed downstairs for some portraits while the cocktail hour got underway. Dinner smelled yummy and the cake tasted great! I have really enjoyed getting to know this couple and can’t wait to hear how the honeymoon went!

Ali & Larin are such a sweet couple - I love it when a pair seem to really ‘get’ each other. We started our day at Gasworks Park - it was so bright and everyone was out to enjoy the sun! We then headed down to Ballard for some play at the locks and the beach. Their pup, Maggie got to join us - what a sweet girl and a very patient ’save the date’ wearer! We made it down to the beach for the sunset and also had some yummy ice cream at Little Coney - best root beer float I’ve had in a long time! The love between Justin & Amber is so sweet and true. There were a few moments throughout their day where I found myself tearing up….while listening to Amber’s mother talk about her daughters…when Justin saw Amber in her gown for the first time…and most especially when I caught a glimpse of Justin singing “At Last” to Amber during their first dance. Although Saturday was very cold up in Mt. Vernon, the sun was shining bright and the Grand Willow Inn was warm and inviting. Every thing was lovely and I am so glad to have met this really great family. Thank you Amber and Justin for including me in your day. Here are a few of my favorite moments…

Monday, I met MaryLee & Derek down in Tacoma to wander the streets and enjoy the cool architecture that the area offers. We went to Union Station and enjoyed a yummy cupcake (they let me taste the frosting!) across the street at Hello Cupcake. The sunlight upstairs at Union Station was so gorgeous! Then we headed down to the waterfront and spent some time on the train tracks. When the train came by it totally scared me, but I managed to get a fun shot of MaryLee’s surprised face. After spending a little time down by the water, we then headed up the hill to The Spar for some of their chips and ’special sauce’ - yummy!! This week, I had the great opportunity to help a friend out while supporting a great organization. LATCH provides affordable housing to hundreds of families here in WA - their vision is to support “a world where every person lives in safe, affordable housing in a caring community of their own choosing.” The photos below are of a few of the children that live in one of these communities. It was so amazing to take my girl out to the park today. There was sun shining and we weren’t frozen solid when we got back in the car. Oh, how I long for summer days.

I met Geri & Glen down at the Pike Place Starbucks last October while taking Jenni & Jason’s e-session. They were chillin’ in the window seat and very generously offered to let J&J in there for a photo. This sweet couple live up in Canada and come down this way for some occasional R&R. I met them last weekend at the Tulalip Resort & Casino - their suite was gorgeous! They had a jetted tub that had lights inside that change color and the decor of the room was super cool. Geri had some great ideas and outfits - Glen is a piper, so she donned his cap and kilt for a few fun shots. As a matter of fact, they are getting married later this year at a castle in Scotland! Geri and I had a lot of fun together during our session, and she’s given me permission to share a couple of my favorite shots from the day. Thanks lady!
Monday was a gorgeous day & I got to spend a few hours with an equally gorgeous couple. Amy & Derek met me at Pike Place Market for some fun & then we headed down to Pioneer Square. Since it was a holiday, there weren’t a lot of people on the street so it felt as if we had the cobble stones all to ourselves. We then hopped in the car to catch the sun dropping over on Alki beach. I really appreciate Derek’s humor - the sun was so bright in his eyes that it made them water - I teased him about being “all choked up” & snapped a bunch of him wiping away the tears. I woke up Saturday morning to the pouring rain and thought that both of my family portrait sessions scheduled for the day were doomed. Luckily, mother nature pulled a fast one and gave us a really beautiful day for photos after all!
I started the morning down at Coulon Park with the Ursinos. This is our second year together for portraits and the girls are getting to be such ladies! They were so much fun to play with and although the grass was muddy we still jumped and ran and giggled. I really enjoy this family - here are a couple of my faves from their session…
