Wedding ~ Brooke & Derek ~ Top of the Market ~ Part Two

So after their lovely ceremony, the reception got rocking almost immediately.  Brooke and Derek thought of so many great details - fish bowls as centerpieces, a fair-style photobooth, mini frames at every place setting and super cool wine cork place cards.  During dinner, DJ ‘DK’ started the song “that’s amore” - everyone rose to their feet and began to swing their napkins in the air while belting out the song.  The toasts were touching and totally funny when one groomsman recited the lyrics to the “Golden Girls” theme song.  The cupcakes from Cupcake Royale were yummy and the music was great!  The couple and I stole away to take some night shots out in Post Alley but returned quickly so they could rock out with all of their friends.  The after party was at Kells in Post Alley and I hear some folks closed the place down!  The party didn’t stop there - Derek and Brooke organized the first “Beals Bowl-o-rama” in West Seattle Saturday morning and they asked me to come along.  What an amazing group of people they have in their lives - I was honored to be a part of their events and really hope to have this couple in my life for a long time to come!

Wedding ~ Brooke & Derek ~ Top of the Market ~ Part One

I have SO many photos that I want to share from Brooke and Derek’s amazing day that I’m going to break my posting into two blogs.  We started out the afternoon at The Paramount Hotel - the suite Brooke was in was directly across the hall from where the men were getting ready.  I have to say that this bridal party was such a hoot to work with, check out the dude who ‘dropped trou’ for me out on the street!  The fireplace in the lobby was a great place to have Derek’s ‘first look’ with Brooke and then we headed out into the street for some play.  My awesome assistant, Jen Wade was already at the venue getting tons ‘o detail shots.  The whole bridal party then met down at the market for additional photo play and family portraits - we brought bubble gum for the group to blow bubbles at the bubble wall (thanks for that reminder Jen!).  On route to take the family portraits, we met Brooke’s dad on the street and the look on his face was so touching to me.  As we continued down the market, we were serenaded by an acapella group outside of Starbucks and happened to bump into my friend Stephanie that makes (and sells) amazing pottery.  She has a sweet motorcycle that she graciously allowed Brooke to hop up on.  We then headed up to the Top of the Market, which is such a lovely venue - the view out of the window in their library made for some fun ’showgirls’ shots.  The ceremony was tender, short and sweet - I really LOVE the expressions on Brooke’s face after they were announced as husband and wife!

Stay tuned for part two ~ the details, reception and the Beals Bowl-o-rama!!

Engagement ~ Amy & Derek

Monday was a gorgeous day & I got to spend a few hours with an equally gorgeous couple.  Amy & Derek met me at Pike Place Market for some fun & then we headed down to Pioneer Square.  Since it was a holiday, there weren’t a lot of people on the street so it felt as if we had the cobble stones all to ourselves.  We then hopped in the car to catch the sun dropping over on Alki beach.  I really appreciate Derek’s humor - the sun was so bright in his eyes that it made them water - I teased him about being “all choked up” & snapped a bunch of him wiping away the tears.  Thanks for a super fun day you guys - here are just a few of my faves from the day…

Engagement Session ~ Jennifer & Kevin

Sunday, I met with Kevin & Jennifer for their e-session.  They brought their sweet pups Hercules and Tigger along too!  We started at Pike Place Market and Post Alley, headed over to Olympic Sculpture Park and ended the afternoon up at Kerry Park.  It was freezing up there, but absolutely GORGEOUS!  Here are a few of my faves from the day - thanks for a fun day you guys - I’m looking forward to next September!

Engagement session ~ Jason & Jenni

Last Saturday, I got to hang out with Jenni & Jason for their e-session at the UW and Pike Place Market - they are such fun and we had SUCH a beautiful afternoon!  We played with a variety of ideas for their ’save the date’ cards (I’m totally digging their coffee cup idea).  I’m really looking forward to their wedding next year - thanks for a super fun day guys!

~ Alisa & Brian ~

Last Friday afternoon, I met Alisa & Brian down at the Pike Place Market to take their engagement photos.  Alisa has the most infectious smile and Brian makes the best ‘goofy’ faces ever.   The weather was just perfect for us and although the market was hoppin’ busy, we managed to find a few nooks and hideaways amidst the crowd.  We even encountered a lovely lady with a pet chicken on a leash at the small park overlooking Elliot Bay!  After the market, we made our way down to the Olympic Sculpture Park - parking was a little tough, but we found the coolest red building a few blocks away that I am now in love with.  We then played around on the grass and by the “&” sign before heading over to the little beach there for the sunset.  This couple obviously has a ton of fun together and I’m so excited about their wedding next Spring!

Alex & Jessica ~ on the move

I had so much fun with A & J in taking their engagement photos this past Sunday. They had just packed their moving van to start their relocation to Reno, NV but were totally ready to take a quick trip downtown and over to Alki to catch the sunset with me! We started at the Market and Post Alley where we found lots of little alcoves and benches for them to smooch on (yay for PDA!), went to the bubble gum wall for some bubble blowing and walked along the market front to catch some amazing sun flare. We then hopped in the car and made it to Alki for a view of the skyline and a stroll on the sand. On the way back home we stopped in the SODO where Alex had earlier seen a street sign with “Nevada” on it - how appropriate for their last night in town. We were only there a moment though before a very nice security guard came along to shoo us off (we were a little close to the customs storage units apparently). The three of us are now bonded forever since we escaped the ‘po po’ together! I’m so happy to have met them and look forward to their wedding here next summer - thanks for a great evening Alex & Jessica!!
