Giving back ~ LATCH

This week, I had the great opportunity to help a friend out while supporting a great organization.  LATCH provides affordable housing to hundreds of families here in WA - their vision is to support “a world where every person lives in safe, affordable housing in a caring community of their own choosing.”  The photos below are of a few of the children that live in one of these communities.  Thanks for calling me Kerri!

~ Family fun at Kubota gardens ~

Even on a nippy day, there is a ton of fun to have at the park.  I met Angie & Jesse’s sweet family at Kubota gardens - it was my first time there and we hiked throughout the garden for almost two hours and I don’t think we even saw the whole thing.  The kiddos Rowan and Zavyen were so excited to show me the pond, waterfall, bridges and the pile of pine cones they hid on their last visit to the park.  Rowan is so talkative and Zavyen is an excellent climber and jumper.  I had a great time with this wonderful family and really hope to see them again!

~ A family in Woodinville ~

My 2nd family session last Saturday started at Chateau Ste. Michelle - the Fall leaves spread over their grounds are just gorgeous!  Sarah and her brother John were SO ready to make a pile of those leaves to jump in, which we did for sure, but first mom (Kelly) and dad (Anthony) gathered together with the kids for some family portraits.  It wasn’t long though before we were on the ground giggling and having fun finding lady bugs in the grass.  We then headed across the street to The Willows Lodge where the family dressed in their holiday flair for more portraits and a walk on the equally beautiful lodge grounds.  I had a lot of fun with Sarah twirling her ‘princess dress’ and with John while he chased the Canadian geese.  Here are a few of my favorites…

~ The Ursino Family ~

I woke up Saturday morning to the pouring rain and thought that both of my family portrait sessions scheduled for the day were doomed.  Luckily, mother nature pulled a fast one and gave us a really beautiful day for photos after all!

I started the morning down at Coulon Park with the Ursinos.  This is our second year together for portraits and the girls are getting to be such ladies!  They were so much fun to play with and although the grass was muddy we still jumped and ran and giggled.  I really enjoy this family - here are a couple of my faves from their session…

~ Miss Kirsten ~

Wednesday, I had big fun with Kirsten & her cool mom, Stacey.  Kirsten is turning 12 next week - she is a 4H grrl & introduced me to her bunny ‘Nefertiti’ & to her sweet play set.  After goofin’ in the backyard, we went up to her room.  As soon as I saw the enormous pile of stuffed animals, I thought of that scene in E.T. when he hid in the kid’s closet - loved it!  We then headed out into their neighborhood - there was a church nearby with some lawns covered with leaves.  We happened to show up just has three men with leaf blowers were cleaning up.  Kirsten (with a little coaching from mom) ran over to them and they blew a TON of leaves on her - after their big pile was made, she jumped right in.  Lastly, we headed over to Luther Burbank park where Kirsten played her guitar a little.  I just love how her toes curl up when she’s concentrating!  Kirsten is made of awesome & I am so happy to have met her.  Thanks for a great day you guys!

“The Aitch” Rules!!

One of my most anticipated days this summer was meeting my flickr friend “The Aitch” & her sweet family for a photo session at the beach. We started talking about meeting each other while they were here in Seattle for vacation earlier this Spring and I got so excited about it that the day I actually met them, I felt SO nervous inside! We met at Golden Gardens for some sand & water play and then headed over to the Ballard Locks for fish n’ chips and a romp on the lawn. My Lily LOVED their wee ones….she talked about them non stop for about a week after. What a super day - I knew I’d love them. The Aitch rules!

We’re havin’ a heat wave…

Yesterday, Seattle was HOT. Not the kind of heat I lived in San Diego with, but without air conditioning in most homes and with a pretty high level of humidity, it’s pretty darn hot! So my friend Rachel and I packed up the kids and found a great fountain park in Ballard yesterday. Lenox, Logan and Lily had a blast running through the water and teasing us with splashes - I especially love how Lily and Lenox seem airborne. We even bumped into Chris & Nicholas who were out trying to beat the heat too. What a fun, albeit sweaty, day!

Pop Tots show - come on down!

I hung everything for my show at Pop Tots today - I’m so excited! The Bull Moose Festival is on 7/19 - I will be in the store from 11-3 that day to meet folks and to have some fun. Please stop by and say hi and to take a peek at some of my favorite recent portraits that will be on display. The store is on Roosevelt, between 65th and 64th. They have the coolest kid’s clothes in sizes from newborn through approximately 11 years old. Hope to see you there on the 19th!

Pop Tots Part Three

I got to have some more fun today with the kids (mine included) taking additional product shots and meeting the sweet baby Miette. I loved her sweet coos and her toes are the CUTEST! I’ve attached my favorites from the day - I’m going to say it again and again….Pop Tots Rocks!!

Thank you Ms. Wade!

I had so much fun today photographing the AM & PM Kindergarten graduation ceremonies for the best kindergarten teacher EVER. The kids had a lot of fun coming up to get their certificate and say what they learned this year. I was overwhelmed by all of the cute, smart and fun 5 and 6 year olds. I hope they all have a super summer and that first grade is just as fun!
