Wedding ~ Samantha & Ryan ~ Maple Valley CC

It rained so hard on Saturday, but nothing could dampen Sam & Ryan’s happiness and excitement for their big day.  This was such an emotional family - I was so touched how Ryan seemed to cry as much as Samantha and every time I saw one of their moms start to cry, it was hard not to just point my camera right at them.  Reverend Ray was great as always,  Sam’s daughter was so ready to be the flower girl and Ryan’s grandpa made such a fun and yummy cake.  The party was hopping - I think that almost everyone jumped in for the electric slide!  I loved the matching converse on the men and Ryan was a great sport trying to blow smoke rings for me (doesn’t it look like a flamingo rising from his mouth?)  Thanks so much for a super fun night you guys - here are a few of my faves!

Wedding ~ Brooke & Derek ~ Top of the Market ~ Part Two

So after their lovely ceremony, the reception got rocking almost immediately.  Brooke and Derek thought of so many great details - fish bowls as centerpieces, a fair-style photobooth, mini frames at every place setting and super cool wine cork place cards.  During dinner, DJ ‘DK’ started the song “that’s amore” - everyone rose to their feet and began to swing their napkins in the air while belting out the song.  The toasts were touching and totally funny when one groomsman recited the lyrics to the “Golden Girls” theme song.  The cupcakes from Cupcake Royale were yummy and the music was great!  The couple and I stole away to take some night shots out in Post Alley but returned quickly so they could rock out with all of their friends.  The after party was at Kells in Post Alley and I hear some folks closed the place down!  The party didn’t stop there - Derek and Brooke organized the first “Beals Bowl-o-rama” in West Seattle Saturday morning and they asked me to come along.  What an amazing group of people they have in their lives - I was honored to be a part of their events and really hope to have this couple in my life for a long time to come!

Home again, home again…

So my trip to Vegas for the WPPI was totally inspiring - I’m already planning for next year!  Coming home has been just as inspiring though.  Lily was so excited to fly ‘up in the sky mama!’ and to visit her favorite Auntie, Uncle & cousins, but she was REALLY excited to ‘go see See-attle mama’.  This afternoon, we took her tricycle down to a nearby school - they have a map of the US painted on their blacktop.  Lily was very excited to stand in ‘See-attle’.

My sweet grrl brings such joy to my heart every single day.  She’s a pretty good tricycle rider too!

~ Ava’s Birth ~

What could be a better way to start off the new year then to see a baby being born?  Ava joined the world at 1 a.m. Monday morning at 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 1/2 inches.  Mom, Dad, midwife Christine Thain (so cool), doula Annie McLaulin (amazing) and midwifery students Deborah and Ashleigh were all in the room while Uncle and Grandparents were in another room anxiously awaiting to welcome sweet Ava.  What a beautiful and intense experience this was - thank you Judy and David for inviting me to be present!

~ Family fun at Kubota gardens ~

Even on a nippy day, there is a ton of fun to have at the park.  I met Angie & Jesse’s sweet family at Kubota gardens - it was my first time there and we hiked throughout the garden for almost two hours and I don’t think we even saw the whole thing.  The kiddos Rowan and Zavyen were so excited to show me the pond, waterfall, bridges and the pile of pine cones they hid on their last visit to the park.  Rowan is so talkative and Zavyen is an excellent climber and jumper.  I had a great time with this wonderful family and really hope to see them again!

All you need is love….and a little vacation time

I just wanted to share a few of the faces of my trip back ‘home’ a couple weeks ago.  San Diego was hot, except for the one day that we ventured to the beach!  Even through the fog, my Lily had a wonderful time walking with Grandpa and throwing rocks into the surf.

My childhood friend Joy (Lily’s middle namesake) brought her two girls up to visit with my Grandma - such sweet girls and my G’ma loved every minute of it…

My ‘bff’ Janelle’s daughter is almost one year old - Marly has the most amazing eyes…

and I also got to meet a long time Flickr friend for the first time - Kristen and her Lilly met Janelle, Marly, Lily and I at The Wild Animal Park - we had a great time together and got to feed the lorikeets…

Lily got to pet a deer (she is still telling everyone about that one)!  It was a fast, but very fun week in San Diego - I hope to go back again soon.

~ Maggie ~

Saturday, I headed down South to meet 5 month old Maggie & her parents for some photos in their home.  This little miss is the cutest with her natural ‘fauhawk’!  She was such a trouper with all of my ideas & outfit changes.  This family is beautiful & I am so happy to have met them.  Here are a few of my favorites from the day…

~ Liam ~

Last Sunday, I headed down to Olympia to meet with 5 month old Liam and his super cool parents.  We played with bubbles and blocks and wrapped him up in some holiday lights and ornaments.  What a sweet drool face this little one is - thanks for a great afternoon you guys!

~ A family in Woodinville ~

My 2nd family session last Saturday started at Chateau Ste. Michelle - the Fall leaves spread over their grounds are just gorgeous!  Sarah and her brother John were SO ready to make a pile of those leaves to jump in, which we did for sure, but first mom (Kelly) and dad (Anthony) gathered together with the kids for some family portraits.  It wasn’t long though before we were on the ground giggling and having fun finding lady bugs in the grass.  We then headed across the street to The Willows Lodge where the family dressed in their holiday flair for more portraits and a walk on the equally beautiful lodge grounds.  I had a lot of fun with Sarah twirling her ‘princess dress’ and with John while he chased the Canadian geese.  Here are a few of my favorites…

~ The Ursino Family ~

I woke up Saturday morning to the pouring rain and thought that both of my family portrait sessions scheduled for the day were doomed.  Luckily, mother nature pulled a fast one and gave us a really beautiful day for photos after all!

I started the morning down at Coulon Park with the Ursinos.  This is our second year together for portraits and the girls are getting to be such ladies!  They were so much fun to play with and although the grass was muddy we still jumped and ran and giggled.  I really enjoy this family - here are a couple of my faves from their session…
