Wedding ~ Amy & Derek ~ The Sorrento Hotel

Last Saturday evening, the Sorrento Hotel was a beautiful setting for Amy & Derek’s equally beautiful wedding.  I met Amy, her sister Katie and Amy’s sweet daughter Haley in their room late in the afternoon.  Hair and makeup was done before they got to the hotel, so there was time for a fun champagne toast before the ladies got dressed.  I was blessed with the awesome assistance of Jen Wade who went down to focus on details while I hung out with the ladies.  Amy’s dress was so beautiful and I loved the other dresses she chose for Katie and Haley - very classy.  Derek and Amy didn’t see each other until Amy walked down the aisle, but he was so sweet to send Amy an ‘I love you’ text while she was getting ready.  After taking some individual family portraits, the ceremony began.  Annemarie, their officiant, was so GREAT - she was so relaxed and warm.  Amy and Derek presented Haley with a beautiful necklace which was really touching (not a dry eye in the house during that one!)  After the ceremony, the new family and I headed downstairs for some portraits while the cocktail hour got underway.  Dinner smelled yummy and the cake tasted great!  I have really enjoyed getting to know this couple and can’t wait to hear how the honeymoon went!

~ Maria & John ~ Alderbrook Resort ~

Last Sunday, I had such a great time at the Alderbrook Resort and Spa on the Hood Canal with Maria, John and their amazing group of family and friends.  This couple met while in the Air Force Academy and the uniform presence was in full effect!  Maria made such a beautiful bride - she was so comfortable with the camera and her crew was up for just about anything!  The resort is gorgeous and the view is breathtaking there.  Scott, the videographer, Emerald and I went crazy on the dock with the couple when the sun started to drop.  Special thanks to Emerald for being awesome assistant - she took the last photo of this post of the resort as we were leaving - what a beautiful place!

Maria’s ladies were so fun - their matching hoodies were super cute.

Small & very sweet…

It was such a pleasure to photograph Rina and Don’s wedding in Everett yesterday. The event took place at the Van Valey House, a beautiful home that is perfect for cozy occasions with lots of little nooks and great furniture throughout. Guests and family flew in from a variety of places - as far away as Japan. The ceremony was officiated by Tiffani Mondares-Riggs - she was so kind and friendly! The sun came out for a moment after their vows, giving us some time to take a group photo, some formal portraits (where Don’s brother gave him a not so formal ‘wet willy’) and some additional photos of the bride and groom on the lawn. Everyone enjoyed a nice lunch and cakes (homemade by the groom himself) after and some wonderful socializing. Sadly, the bride’s mother has recently passed - Rina wore her mother’s ring on her necklace and her father had a photo of her tucked in his lapel.  She was mentioned many times throughout the day and was very missed.  This was a very sweet day enjoyed by all - thank you Rina and Don for including me in your day. Here are just some of my favorite moments from the day…
